Tired of young adult novels about sparkly vampires and half-naked werewolves? So was Nashville resident Victoria Schwab. A young adult herself, Victoria has created her own fairy tale/creature mythology in The Near Witch, the story of a young woman who discovers a stranger on the moors of the town of Near at the same time the children of the village begin to disappear.
Victoria was kind enough to take time out of her book tour to talk to HeGeekSheGeek.com about her new book. In part 2 of 3, we find out about Victoria’s brush with the supernatural, creating an original world, and what real world influences may have helped shape The Near Witch.
Come back tomorrow when we really geek out with Victoria Schwab!
What was that video Victoria was talking about at the end? “Glósóli” by Sigur Ros. I believe the artist is from Iceland, but the video is certainly atmospheric enough to be the setting for The Near Witch.
