THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE 200 Word Review by He Geek

Katniss and Peeta, the victors of the 74th Hunger Games, are recruited to play in the Quarter Quell along with 22 other previous winners in Catching Fire. But if you thought this movie would be just more of what we saw in The Hunger Games, you were so wrong.

Catching Fire is less of a Battle Royal takeoff and more of the story of the beginnings of an uprising. Jennifer Lawrence shows why she is Hollywood’s newest It Girl by really selling the part of an unwilling (and unknowing) leader of a revolution.

Characters, new and old, are developed more in Catching Fire even though it seemed like there were even more of them to keep up with. This time I actually felt more for Katniss and the other unfortunate combatants whereas in the first movie I really just carried over my feelings for the characters based on my book experience.

Catching Fire is, in a way, the The Empire Strikes Back of the Hunger Games trilogy; it’s certainly not a complete film on its own but is, so far, the best part of the story. Here’s hoping the third (and fourth) film Mockingjay avoids any Ewoks in the final chapter.
